It’s Not Me–It’s You. It’s Not You–It’s Me. It’s Both. It’s Neither – Newsletter October 2021

When we come from a place of It’s Not Me – It’s You, we project our fears and feelings onto the other.

Ultimately, we are all responsible for the feelings that arise in us. Projecting our feelings back at the other is an attempt to deflect owning our feelings. And rather than get angry, defensive, or blame the other – it is more productive to respond calmly.

When we come from a place of It’s Not You – It’s Me, we internalize how the other made us feel.

We are also responsible for any feelings we internalize, bury, and hide from the other. And rather than allowing our emotions to stew and later erupt or morph into passive-aggressive attitudes or behaviors, it is more productive to speak up calmly – but confidently.

Later, we can look to understand why we allow another to make us feel bad and how we allow them to treat us in the way they do. (Sign-Up  to receive my Free Monthly Newsletter where I cover a variety of subjects related to our personal development).

Whether we project or internalize, we take personally what the other said, did, didn’t say, didn’t do, or how they reacted or didn’t react. Don’t take things personally is one of the four agreements from …

The Four Agreements, by Don Miguel Ruiz – My Recommended Book of the Month

When People Disagree or One Feels Hurt, or Gets Disappointed or Disillusioned

?It’s Both of Us: because when issues arise, both are coming from a place of misalignment from love. One is unaware that they are feeling bad because of their misalignment; the other is unaware that they are behaving in hurtful ways that stem from their misalignment.

And …

?It’s Neither of Us: Our true reality is that we are love. However, we are disconnected from that love. So, when issues arise, both are coming from a place of misalignment from that love – unaware that they are simply feeling bad or acting out from that place of misalignment.

With this understanding that It Is Both of Us – and – It Is Neither of Us – and knowing that each is unaware that they are feeling or reacting from this place of misalignment, it is easier to understand and forgive how the other is showing up.

To shift from It’s Not Me–It’s You – or – It’s Not You–It’s Me” – to – “It’s Both – It’s Neither” we must …

? Come from a place of honesty and authenticity within ourselves

? Bring the qualities of love – calmness, compassion, understanding, forgiveness, acceptance, and harmony to the other.

And to get there, it helps to …

? Remember that we are all somewhat misaligned from our true reality – from the love we are at our core

? Recognize that you cannot always feel love and are therefore not always able to come from a place of love

? Rather than hide or deflect your thoughts and feelings, allow them to arise honestly within yourself. And if need be …

? Express how you feel – honestly and calmly to the other – without blame or judgment

?Aim to consciously bring the qualities of love to your dealings with others.

If our default is to blame, judge, or react aggressively or be overly passive (being overly-passive is not loving ourselves), making the shift to being loving to ourselves and others takes time and practice.

A trick I learned when I studied A Course in Miracles that helped me overcome my default and make conscious shifts to come from a place of love was to ask myself: What Would Love Do?

A Course in Miracles is a profound self-study that guides us to see others and life from a place of love. We learn to respond calmly and with fairness, compassion, and acceptance – rather than from the ego’s fear-based thought system with its propensity to blame, judge, and defend. (You can read my associated post, What Would Love Do? by clicking on the above link).

We Are All Somewhat Misaligned from Love – from Our True Reality

Most of us were not taught that we are misaligned from our essence – from love. It was on my journey of personal development that I learned that it is this misalignment that causes us to act and react in unloving ways – towards ourselves and others.

We are not bad – or wrong. We may act badly, hurt others, or do wrong things,

but we are not bad or wrong at our core. We can repair, but we should never feel ashamed.

We inherited these hurtful and defensive ways of being from eons past.

I learned that once, whether on earth, in another form, or before the big bang, we were “at one with God”– connected to love. At some point, a separation occurred. We became disconnected from that part of ourselves where we were in complete connection to love and automatically expressed love outwards – to everything and everyone.

This disconnect shifted our approach from one of love to one of fear. We went from a me-and-you way of navigating life to one of me-versus-you.

Our connection to love gave us a solid power base that allowed us to express the qualities of love easily – without limitations. We felt empowered.

Fear robbed us of our solid power base. We were disconnected, and we felt disempowered.  As this fear-based way of approaching life played out, fear’s qualities like judgment, blame, anger, shame, greed, competitiveness, protectiveness, defensiveness, small-mindedness, etc.., took hold.

Survival became our main raison d’être, and we pitted ourselves against one another. We were unaware that we were all (perpetrators and victims) influenced by inherited ways from past generations. My quote of the month is from my book, Why We Are the Way We Are

You Cannot Overcome What You Are Unaware of and Unwilling to Look At

Humanity became trapped in these fear-based ways of approaching life, passed on from civilization to civilization. From generation to generation! They became anchored into our DNA – to the point that we were no longer aware that we were living life from an unnatural mindset.

It is Humanity’s evolutionary time to shift out of this mindset and its fear-based ways of being. And it is happening!

As a society, we didn’t know – or were afraid to face that we were holding onto old, outdated ways of being. Society’s tentacles are complex and have a very long reach. Change is scary! The unknown is scary.

As individuals, we haven’t known – or were afraid to face that we were holding onto old, outdated ways of being. Until recently, we didn’t realize that we should – or could change the ways of being and navigating life that we grew up with.

It is scary to look within to our attitudes, thought processes, and behavior patterns – to open the door to realizing that we may have thought or acted in unhelpful and hurtful ways.

???

Our thought processes and default ways of being are nothing to be ashamed of. We now know that we inherited unhelpful and disempowering ways of being from our past. It is not our fault that we internalize our feelings and feel hurt. Or that we project our feelings and act badly towards others.

This knowledge gives us the assurance that we can look at our default ways of being – without fear or shame. so that we can shift from … It’s Not Me–It’s You / It’s Not You–It’s Me – to – It’s Both / It’s Neither …  because …

… when issues arise, both of us are coming from a place of misalignment from love – inherited from our pasts – and unaware that we are simply feeling bad or acting badly from that place of misalignment.

I wish you a beautiful rest of the Fall.  Stay safe, and warm???

Staying Calm, Keeping Balanced, Allowing for Reflection

As we start to get back into the swing of Fall activities (at least those of us in the Northern hemisphere are), let us remember to not get so caught up in all the various commitments and/or responsibilities that come along with this time of the year that we become stressed, and forget how uplifting feeling relaxed and “just being” is

Even though we have been forced to slow down this past year and a half and we may have had more time than usual to be reflective, modern life often leads us to ignore the reflective and feeling parts of ourselves.

To be happy and feel good we need to attend to our body, mind, emotions, and spiritual connection. To the subtler parts of our existence.

Humanity’s history has been based on false realities. Of separate motivations grounded in fear, greed, competition – on me-against-you.

Fighting for our survival became paramount in our existence. We were reactive, rather than responsive.

Although today most of us do not have to fight for our physical survival, we have translated this survival mode to one of business – of getting ahead.

And we have maintained the competitiveness and reactive states of that survival mode.

Rather than responding calmly and only addressing what is currently happening, many of us react to others and situations aggressively – often bringing in past issues or unaddressed emotions from our past.

Our business, competitiveness, focus on getting ahead, and our reactive states have left no room to connect to our subtler and reflective natures.

This article/blog post is based on concepts from my books

Your Journey to Peace    and “Why We Are the Way We Are

(Book cover images below)

I am also a copywriter and offer various writing services. See  My Writing Services Page

When the reflective and feeling parts of ourselves are disregarded, we lead unbalanced lives. We have become disconnected from the subtleties of our True Self.

This can cause us to be discompassionate. Selfish. Unable to see how our attitudes and behaviors affect those around us.

An unbalanced life will derail us from what will ultimately make us happy. It undermines our peace and happiness, and the stress it creates hurts those around us and causes creates conflicts in our relationships. And we are usually in denial that we are behaving in ways that hurt us or those around us.

Links to 2 companion posts are below

One example is workaholics, who spend all their time focusing on success, money, and/or power and leave no time for relaxation, family life, or spiritual growth.

Workaholics are usually unaware or in denial of the consequence of their single-mindedness on themselves and the effects of their pursuits on others.

Or, they may have their eyes wide open and simply not care about anything or anybody else at this point in their lives, which is of course their own choice. They just may have to face the consequences – at one time or another.

Staying Calm, Keeping Balanced, Allowing for Reflection

Another example is people who are caught up in business – either to avoid their problems or emotions or simply because being busy has become a habit.

Either way, it is the unconscious driving forces from Humanity’s and our personal past histories that create a distorted picture of reality causing us to allow for imbalances in our lives.

And with all we have been through lately, we may have defaulted to state – even if we had led more or less balanced lives before.

We are now starting to understand that:

?Staying balanced within ourselves is a vital part of our mental – and physical health.

This is usually related to health, family life, career, or our happiness and ability to connect to the subtleties in life. To feel joy. To feel peaceful. We need to ask ourselves whether or not our life choices and decisions will bring us peace of mind, contentment, and ultimately make us happy.

Most of us have at least – at one time or another gotten caught up in the business of life and feeling the necessity of being in competition with others.

?Being compassionate and fair towards others is also part of our mental – and thereby our physical health.

We do not have to be greedy or in competition with others. These bring down our being and cause fractures in our connection to Universal flow.

We now know that there is enough love, success, and material goods to go around – for us and everyone – and that the Universe operates under the principle of abundance.

However, to be open to the universal gifts offered we have to maintain a strong connection to Universal flow. This connection is weakened when we are unbalanced.

When we live unbalanced lives the important things that ultimately fulfill us suffer

In his transformative healing sessions, Gerry Clow reminds us that as a society we have tipped the scales way off-center as we have replaced the subtler aspects of life with the harsher ones:

“Most of our lives we are reactive, rather than reflective. We spend our time searching, not sourcing; looking, not listening; finding, but not feeling. We involve ourselves in life, forgetting often how to evolve ourselves in life, not realizing it’s essential – and healthy – to be on both pathways at the same time.” (1)

We inherited these attitudes. But we now know how destructive they are to our personal happiness and spiritual growth.

Staying Calm, Keeping Balanced, Allowing for Reflection

As we continue through hopefully what will be the last stretch of the restrictions put upon us, let’s use any quiet time that could be seen as a negative and turn it into a positive by Staying Calm, Keeping Balanced, and Allowing for Reflection so that we come out of this stronger than when we entered this crazy time.

Appreciating Our Planet: Investing in Our Future – Part 2/3

In part 1, I discussed how Gaia, our Planet, is a living, breathing organism – a conscious, living being, and that she nurtures us, and gives to us freely, asking for nothing in return. I also discussed that most native people still hold the reciprocal relationship with her that their ancestors did.  And by adhering to the concept of enough, they maintain the strong give and take relationships with her – that was always intended how we were to live.

(This is an article from 2018,which I also posted again in 2019, and am re-posting it now. It seems timely with us all likely spending more time being outdoors and in nature these days, and a reminder for us to love and look after our Planet so that future generations will be able to take advantage of her energizing properties).

(You can read Part 1 here  And here for my blog post The Concept of Enough)

Embedded in the Indigenous peoples’ histories is the belief that we are all our Planet’s stewards.

We would do well to listen to the Indigenous peoples and their concerns about maintaining fresh air, clean water, and healthy land. To carefully study and reflect on their approaches to nature.

We must do this for them so that they can maintain their connections to the land and cultures, and therefore their sense of empowerment, but we also must do it for all people.

As a collective society, it is the Indigenous people who have maintained the knowledge of how to keep our Planet healthy. Their beliefs about it are our road-map to achieving a good and healthy future for our children and our survival as a whole – just as they intended eons ago.

This article/blog post is based in concepts from my books

Your Journey to Peace … “ and “Why We Are the Way We Are”

(Available in print and e-book, About links and  book cover images are below)

We Disempowered the Indigenous Peoples

Indigenous people all over the world tap into and sustain their empowerment through their connection to the land and cultural traditions.

Wherever we have overtaken their lands and/or forced our ways upon them we disempowered them, to say the least. The effects of centuries of abuse, misuse, control, and marginalization has done extensive damage that echoes through their generations.

We must work acknowledging the accumulative effects of past abuses, with compassion for the plights they now suffer, with fairness in mind, and a goal towards equal rights.

  • We must ensure that future projects for profit (or those in the name of progress we want to promote) no longer infringe on rural, native, or Indigenous peoples’ health, culture, community, or way of life;
  • we must also acknowledge what we are still doing to undermine them, or their healing. Their welfare must be kept at the forefront of any decision-making that impacts the environment as a whole, their health, general welfare, cultural traditions, and their land; Appreciating Our Planet: Investing in Our Future
  • we must do this so that Indigenous peoples can regain and maintain their connection to the land, which is essential to their sense of empowerment. This is what will allow them to thrive again;
  • we need to create partnerships with the Indigenous groups within our countries and work together to create a harmonious future that will benefit us all, and our future generations, on the lands we now share.

Programs and Movements Are Being Created Around the World

We are starting to address Indigenous peoples concerns: for the repercussions Indigenous peoples suffered at our hands, as well as to support their struggles against further encroachment on their heritage lands for greed and profit.

In 2012, a movement called Idle No More, was started in Canada countering a specific bill that would directly affect the First Nations concerns.

It spread to the United States, where it grew into one of the largest protests ever regarding Native American issues, and various other protests arose in solidarity around the world.

Many who were not of Indigenous heritage joined the Idle No More protests – some to show support for the native peoples’ concerns and others because of general environmental issues that affect all of us and our future.

In 2015 Canada set up a commission to bring to light and address the abuse and other ill effects for First Nations children that resulted from the Indian Residential School system that was set up by Government and Church over 150 years ago, with the last school closing only in the mid 1990’s.

These schools were aimed to alienate the First Nations children from their families and undermine their culture. The children who were forced to leave their reserves and attend these schools (where they were also badly treated) were heavily affected.

So were their descendants: the repercussions from alienating these children from their families and culture caused far-reaching negative effects.

In India, and after years of struggle, in 2010 the Dongria Kondh tribe won their battle against a resources company to prevent a planned bauxite mine that would have had a huge impact on their land and way of life.

Appreciating Our Planet: Investing in Our Future

They received support from various sources, one of them being Survival International, who helped create a documentary film “Mine: Story of a Sacred Mountain,” about the tribe’s life and this struggle. Survival brought in well-known British stars Joanna Lumley to narrate the film and Michael Palin help promote their cause. (1)

The film shows that the Dongria Kondh people are autonomous and actually thrive in the area their people have occupied for centuries, contrary to the popular belief that rural tribes and those living isolated from civilization are all characterized by hardship. The proposal to go ahead with the mining project was denied.

This denial has set a precedent and now has an international impact for future companies whose intention is to encroach on tribal lands for profit.

The extensive research that was done throughout the tribe’s struggle brought to light the necessity of fully investigating the effects projects of large corporations have on tribal and native peoples and their way of life.

Next, in Part 3 I will continue this theme that the Indigenous people are our road-map back to harmonious living. with my article Our Countries’ Harmonies Are Linked to the Indigenous Peoples’ Healing.

Appreciating Our Planet: Investing in Our Future – Part 1/3

Gaia, our Planet, is a living, breathing organism. She is a conscious, living being. She is our home. She is meant to sustain us. To nurture us. She gives to us freely and asks for nothing in return. However, most of us in the industrialized world have somehow forgotten the importance of our connection to her.

(This is an article from 2019, but as we are all most likely spending more time being in outdoors and in nature these days because of all the restrictions of gathering inside, it seemed appropriate to re-post this article to remind us to love and look after our Planet, so that we will all be able to take advantage of her healing properties for generations to come)

Both Physical and Emotional Abuses Affect Our Planet

Although some of the changes our Planet is going through are simply part of her evolutionary process, many are because of our greed, ignorance, and modernization – what we have physically done to her by defiling her land, polluting her air and water, damming up her waterways, and raping her natural resources.

Our Planet has also been affected by the emotional abuses we have put upon her. Humanity’s hate, greed, killing, judgment, and control over each other have also affected her energetic body.

Just as mistreatment of our physical and emotional bodies affects all aspects of our well-being, it is the same with our beautiful Planet.

In attempting to re-balance herself, Gaia’s energy flow has shifted and swayed, often causing violent weather patterns.

Humanity once lived in harmony with nature and lived sustainably with the Planet’s natural elements. The further we fell into duality the more we aligned with attitudes of lack and greed.

This article/blog post is based in concepts from my books

Your Journey to Peace … “ and “Why We Are the Way We Are”

(Available in print and e-book, About links and  book cover images are below)

Our lives became based on acquiring, amassing, and trotting over whomever and whatever to get what we wanted, or thought we needed to survive. Thom Hartmann expresses this beautifully in The Last Hours of the Ancient Sunlight.

Modern civilizations have come to truly

believe that the paths to a better life are

consumerism and to use our cleverness to

manipulate the “machine of nature”

to our advantage. (1)

For the most part, the Indigenous peoples around the world have maintained a connection with Mother Nature – they still hold a close, reciprocal relationship with her.

Maintaining harmony and a connection to nature was actually a conscious decision Indigenous people made as a group, eons ago, so that when we lost this connection they could show us the way back.

Indigenous People’s Road Map to Harmonious Living

The Indigenous peoples’ gentle nature and connection to the earth are linked to the healing of Humanity.

In his article “The Three Seeds,” Charles Eisenstein tells us that thousands of years ago when we chose to play the game of “separation” with nature, the prophets at that time suspected we would lose our way and left “three seeds” to help us find our way back. (2)

Appreciating Our Planet: Investing in Our Future

The first seed was the “wisdom lineages.” These preserved and protected the essential knowledge, and became the mystical branches of the religions or belief systems: the Zen masters / gurus in the Eastern religions; Hasidism / the Kabbalah in Judaism; Sufism in Islam; the mystical branches of Christianity. The sages and holy men within these spiritual branches upheld the humility and mystical, experiential aspects of their faiths. (3)

The second seed was the “sacred stories: myths, legends, scriptures, fairy tales and folklore.” These tales, crouched in imagery and allegory, transcend the conscious mind, as they are supernatural conduits that convey the hidden knowledge of the ages. They infuse us with awe, wonder, and hope, so that however far we wandered into the “Labyrinth of Separation,” we always had a lifeline to find our way back. (4)

Appreciating Our Planet: Investing in Our Future

The third seed was the “indigenous tribes” who consciously chose to forgo the journey of separation with Gaia and growth into a technological society that destroyed nature. They instead continued to live close to the land and in harmony with nature so they could eventually provide us with a road map back to living in accordance with the “laws of nature.” The various tribes hold different aspects of the knowledge we have lost, such as how to commune reciprocally with nature and the animal kingdoms; read and understand dreams; raise our children; and see beyond our limited third-dimensional idea of time. (5)

Traditional teachings among most native people worldwide reveal their understanding of the concept of enough.

  • Those who live off the land, free of material obsessions, believe the earth will provide them with basic necessities;
  • They understand our deep connection to it;
  • They appreciate that the earth nourishes us with water, air, and food and understand that maintaining the purity of these is crucial;
  • They recognize Mother Earth as a gift from our Creator and that every molecule on it lives and breathes.

(For more information on this notion of enough see here for my article/blog post “The Concept of Enough.”)

June 2020 Newsletter: We Can Always Dig Deeper

We Can Always Dig Deeper

We are now all digging deeper than we thought we ever could

as we deal with, and come to terms with, what is happening to our lives.

This is a lesson that we should remember.

(This is the theme of my June 2020 newsletter message. Sign-up information is at end of post)

I am sure we are all looking forward to the day when we can be spontaneous and spread our wings again without fear – like we used to. But for now, our wings have been clipped because of the many limitations put upon us – just so that we can be safe. It’s unnatural, unsettling, and has created much upheaval in our lives.

If asked a year ago if we thought we would be able to handle the various challenges, disappointments, and the changes now thrust upon us it, we probably would have said NO, NOT AT ALL.  But we are – at least to some degree – and as best we can.

We may hate it all, want it all to be over, sometimes get angry, and/or are fearful about the future, but still, we are dealing with it – and all of us in our own ways, simply because we have no choice.

,All my writings are based in concepts from my books

Your Journey to Peace … “ About Book  here

and “Why We Are the Way We Are”  About Book  here

(Book cover images below)

A few cute posts went around Facebook recently that went something like, “when asked in 2015 where you think you would be in 5 years from now, NO ONE would have gotten it right about what we are experiencing;” another one I saw said something like, “I KNOW I didn’t pray for, make a request to the Universe, or consciously manifest this.”

However, this has happened, and we are dealing with it – in different ways, to various degrees, and some days probably better than other days.

We have all had to dig in our heels and dig deeper for compassion, understanding – and patience, again, simply because we have no choice: it is our best option.

Digging deeper than we thought we ever could,

and dealing with, and coming to terms with, what is happening,

is a lesson that we should remember.

Most of us would likely never have thought that we could manage the loss of spontaneity. With the isolation. Of not being able to regularly see, or hug, our loved ones. That we would be willing to adhere to social distancing. Get along without social functions. Of having to line up for groceries and necessities. With having to constantly disinfect everything. To wear, or see most others, with masks on. When looking down from above, it might look like a war zone or sci-fi movie here. It kind of is. And it is hard.

But we will get through it all. And hopefully for most of us, only mildly scathed. And for many of us, we will have a newfound appreciation for the small things in life, like spending quality time with friends and our loved ones in the simplest of ways. Eventually we will find a new normal in our lives, and we will be able to be spontaneous and spread our wings again without fear.

Our ability to dig deeper is a lesson we should remember and

bring forward with us when we are through all of this

to use in the future when any kind of disruption in our life occurs, or

fear about what is happening, or may happen, arises.

Because, We Now Know that We Can Always Dig Deeper!

Universal Laws Govern Us – a Recap (Part 8 of 8)

Universal Laws and principles were set out at the creation of our cosmos. Some, like gravity, affect form, while others govern emotion, intention, relationship – which are all linked to creation.

(Links to parts 1-7 of this series are below)

Because we are still linked to the original Universal creative force we emanated from, some of these laws and principles influence us and govern our relationship to it – and to its creative power.

We all came forth as loving expressions of this God-force, and will eventually realign with it. All its creations – everything and everyone – are linked by a unifying principle. As such, there is a Oneness that connects us to them all.

At the beginning – and before form, all the creations embodied unconditional love and a sense of unity – and a unity of purpose. However, somewhere along the way the connection to these harmonious and co-operative ways of expression were lost.

Universal Laws and principles can help us rekindle the unconditional love

and sense of unity we once held, but lost our connection to.

These laws and principles are simply explanations of how to uphold the required vibrations to align with the Universal forces, so that we can take advantage of what is not only available to us, but what is actually our inheritance.

When we do not adhere to these laws and principles, then by default, our own internal thoughts and ideas – with their limiting fears, worries, judgments, etc. prevail.

This article/blog post is based in concepts from my books

Your Journey to Peace … “ About Book  here

and “Why We Are the Way We Are”  About Book  here

(Book cover images below)

We once effortlessly brought forth glorious realities merging the powerful Father energy and the creative Mother energy in perfect balance while still maintaining the concept of a unity of consciousness and purpose. We did this within the auspices of free will.

However, somewhere along the way, the thought that I-can-do-it-on-my-own – apart from the original creative force arose. Free will allowed this to occur. We thought we had separated from the Oneness, but we had not, as that bond could never be broken.

In time, our sense of connectedness, unity of purpose, and all that was inherent to the Oneness was forgotten or ignored, leading to duality and polarity – to the pull between love and fear – and all their offshoots that have become part of our default operating system.

We still hold a memory of that Oneness. This is what has created longing within us.

Deep within the recesses of our unconscious we remember the unconditional love,

and sense of unity, shared purpose, and co-operation.

We know it is right. And possible. However, the connection to it is most often just beyond our reach. The holy people and Masters were sent to help us realign with the precepts of unconditional love and unity, but for the most part, we ignored, misperceived, or were so stuck in the darkness we didn’t understand their messages.

Whatever words we use when speaking of that higher power – the Universal creative force, be it God, Creator, Source, Allah, Holy Spirit, or simply the term Universe, the notion that there is an organizing, benevolent principle at play to guide and support us, has always been around. It is, and has been, of great comfort to us.

We just have to look up at the sky in the day and the stars and planets at night to understand that there must be a higher power holding it all together. We cannot deny that something with a magical quality is orchestrating it all.

Then we look at the chaos in our world, and cannot make a connection. Humans inherited this duality and polarity from a time beyond form, and as we played it out, our connection to the love and unity we once embodied grew weaker and weaker.

It is Our Cosmic Time to Override Our Past

We are now at the pinnacle of our evolution, and it is our cosmic time to find our way out. It is our time to override the habitual behaviors that we inherited from the past, but that have become our norm: our operating system.

Understanding and applying the Universal Laws is part of our guidance to do so. So is understanding our existence as a whole and our connection to the cosmos. (I explain these concepts more fully in chapter 8, “Science” in Your Journey to Peace, Bridging the Gap Between Religion, Spirituality, Psychology, and Science.

The separation we thought we had brought about by doing-it-on-our-own is the first illusion we bought into. which lead us to create illusion upon illusion – until conditional love and separate agendas became the only truths we knew. They actually became our survival tools.

Over time, many, many concepts have been deemed Universal Laws, as with the ancient Hermetic Laws. Other philosophies, like A Course in Miracles, puts forth concepts like Cause and Effect, but do not call them laws. Linda Dillon suggests 13 Universal Laws, some similar to, and others different than mine.

Here is a small recap of the six Universal Laws I write about. The six I chose to focus on were relevant to the self-help, self-understanding parts of my writing. (Links to the posts on the individual Universal Laws I write about are below.

My Six Universal Laws

First, the Law of Openness denotes that we have to be in a state of receptivity to be able to fully access the love, joy, sense of unity and empowerment, and the other gifts available to us from the Universe.

Second, the Law of Authenticity indicates that we need to come from an honest place within ourselves. We must be aware of our intentions, motivations, and default ways of being.

Third, the well-known Law of Attraction confirms that we are vibration and maintains the principles that “like attracts like” and that “we are the creator of our own realities.”

Fourth, the Law of Cause and Effect clarifies that we are the cause of our experiences – not at the effect of the world around us, as until recently we believed we were.

Fifth, the Law of Balance suggests that we should strive to live in a way that promotes a sense of equilibrium in our lives and harmony in our beings. To do so, we have to make peace with all parts of ourselves, as well as the world around us.

And finally, the Law of Expansion comes into play in our lives once the other laws are well integrated into our beings, whereby the exponential function allows us to take a sharp upward turn and expand into all that we can be.

March 2020 Newsletter: Gratitude: In Good and Challenging Times

With all the limitations recently put on us and the uncertainty of what our near – and not so near future holds, I pondered a while to come up with a message this month that was both sensitive and possibly helpful – to hopefully some of my readers.

I believe that assuring we remain grateful for what we do have helps us remain more balanced as we continue to work through all the restrictions put on us and the fears and frustrations many of us are dealing with.

(At the end are links to 2 guided meditations you might find helpful at this time. A recent one by Marianne Williamson to help us weather this challenging time – both physically and emotionally. And one by Louise Hay that focuses on gratitude).

Gratitude: In Good and Challenging Times

A little quote from Rumi, the 13th century Persian poet, expresses the power of gratitude perfectly. Gratitude seeps through any denseness created when we fall prey to low vibration thinking or ways of being and connects us to our heart-space. It bursts through any blocks we inadvertently created – like those caused by worry, fear, blame, anger, etc. that keep us disconnected from our heart-space.

Wear gratitude like a cloak, and it will feed every corner of your life. ~Rumi

Along with joy, freedom, and love, gratitude and appreciation are listed as the highest on Abraham Hicks’s Emotional Guidance Scale (1). And just like love, joy, and all the high-vibration attitudes, appreciation and gratitude send sparks of light, love, and healing to our cells, allowing for mental stability and feelings of physical well-being.

This helps us override as gratitude connects us to our heart-space, we are propelled into higher levels of consciousness. This helps us to override any habitual, negative / unhelpful thought, attitudinal, and behavioral patterns. Worry, fear, anger, blame etc. dissipate, and we see life with more clarity and from a more hopeful – and helpful perspective.

With clarity of vision, what we really need to do not only becomes clearer, it also somehow happens more easily. The cobwebs of worry, fear, anger, blame, and what if’s simply fade away. Clarity of vision is not a small thing – especially in these confusing and challenging times.

Gratitude does not come that easily to many of us, but there is much we can do to help bring feelings of gratitude and appreciation into our every-day life.

The Universal Law of Expansion – Part 2/2

When we evolve to the point that we evoke the Universal Law of Expansion, it not only affects our individual lives, it also affects the collective.

For Part 1 see HERE

(This is the 7th article in a series of 8 on Universal Laws. More info at end).

Everything that is emitted from us – positive or negative affects the collective. Every thought, intention, word, response, and behavior, holds a vibration. Vibration is fluid. It cannot be contained. It expands out from us.

When we raise our vibration we raise our consciousness. And when we raise our consciousness to the point that we engage the Law of Expansion, all of the positive vibrations have gone out into the world. So do all the long-term positive effects of our expanded, more loving, and inclusive consciousness.

However, both our individual and collective growths have starts, stops, spurts of growth, spurts of inertia, and the seemingly two-steps-forward and one-step-backward movement. We see this in the world today – and it can be confusing.

This article is based on my writings.

See below for more information on this and my other books – all aimed to better ourselves.

The Law of Expansion and the Collective

There are many stories and legends in ancient history that show how Humanity tried, and failed, in its efforts to overcome the auspices of duality’s hate, greed, control, brutality, etc. Inevitably, the many steps forward were repeatedly followed by more steps back.

Enlightened periods, like the Renaissance and the 1960’s, shone through.  Since the world wars it has seemed that we have been on a positive trajectory with more steps forward than backward. Or, so it seemed until recently.

It may seem that even the Western world is in more chaos than ever with all the hatred aimed at groups of people. The inequality, biases, and abuse of power towards women, minorities, the gay community, the poor and underprivileged etc., may seem more blatant than ever.

However, it was always there, but hidden, and is actually all coming up for healing. Just like with individuals, we can only heal what we are aware of.

We are actually at a pinnacle of our evolution.

It is our cosmic time to wake up – individually and collectively.

To wake up from the false paradigm Humanity fell into eons ago,

which was based on the aspects of fear, instead of the qualities of love.

We unknowingly perpetrated this fear, blaming, controlling, divisive, power-based me-against-you way of being to such an extent that it became our default position – that until very recently, we bought into.

We are now addressing the issues of injustice and inequality this controlling, power-based system that now runs all aspects of society created, and are attempting to move towards healing the various aspects of it and ways that it manifests in the world.

Everywhere we turn people are calling for fairness, justice, and equality for all, especially for the marginalized, for transparency from those in power positions, and reconcilliatory measures for individuals or groups of people whom we allowed, or caused, to become disenfranchised.

It has been a long road to get from the brutality of the past towards the masses to this forward momentum of compassion and fairness for all. Recognizing that Humanity is approaching the sharp turn upward can encourage us when we see or hear of unfairness, inequality, cruelty, or chaos still manifesting in our world.

The Universal Law of Expansion

One day, our individual and collective futures will hold only steps forward!

With every attitude shift away from those based in fear, judgment, and hatred to those based in love, acceptance, and compassion we move in the direction of the exponential function, until finally, we find we expand into the fearless, limitless beings we were meant to be.

Law of Expansion - Universal Law 6 (of 6)

The Universal Law of Expansion – Part 1/2 (and Part 7 in series of 8 on Universal Law)

We invoke the Law of Expansion when the other Universal Laws are well integrated into our being.

(Link to Part 2 below – as are links to the other 7 articles in this series on Universal Laws)

Positive momentum gathers within us as we embrace the cosmic principles set forth that affect us when the universe was created, and as this force feeds off itself, we start to become empowered in all areas of our life, until finally, we expand into all that we can be.

Although through our free will we can ignore the Universal Laws and their principles, we can only tap into Universal flow and the power within it when we are aligned with them. (This is the 7th of 8 in my series on the Universal Laws for the Starlit Path Magazine. All previous ones can be found on my blogs. Links below)

Here is recap of each of the Universal Laws I already wrote about. (I started the series with a general article Understanding Universal Law – also found on my blog).

  • First, the Law of Openness denotes the need to be open-hearted – in a state of receptivity.
  • Second, the Law of Authenticity indicates that we must come from an honest place within ourselves.
  • Third, the well-known Law of Attraction maintains the principle that like attracts like.
  • Fourth, the Law of Cause and Effect clarifies that we are the cause of our experiences, not at the effect of the world around us.
  • The fifth is The Law of Balance and it suggests that we have to make peace with all parts of ourselves as well as the world around us.
  • The sixth, which I am discussing today, is the Law of Expansion where we evoke the exponential function into our lives as we create upward momentum in our spiritual growth.

This article/blog post is based in concepts from my books

Your Journey to Peace … “ About Book  here

and “Why We Are the Way We Are”  About Book  here

(Book cover images below)

(I grouped the Universal Laws into six different categories, and these are just general guidelines. There are others, and some people divide them up into more details, or use different names, but most of what we need for our personal understanding and growth is contained within these. My 8 in the series comprised of an Introduction and a Conclusion).

The Law of Expansion and Individuals

As we continuously apply ourselves to aligning our thoughts, attitudes, words, and behaviors with positivity, the qualities of love, and the themes of the Universal Laws that apply to us we become more positive and loving.

And as we anchor in the confidence from all the little emotional and personal gains we make, we become more secure in the process.

Our efforts do not necessarily have to be hard work. It is often simply the letting go of what is blocking us from becoming all we were meant to be. Lighter attitudes allow us to align with universal flow. Denser attitudes create blocks to it.

Therefore, it is the shifting away from dense anger-based and divisive, judgmental, prejudicial attitudes, our propensity to blame others, and all other me-against-you concepts – to lighter love-based attitudes that uphold ideas of unity, acceptance, fairness towards all, the taking of responsibility for our attitudes and actions, and of embracing me-and-you concepts that break down the blockages to us growing emotionally and spiritually.

The Universal Law of ExpansionOur emotional and spiritual growth as well as our personal successes may also come about with a combination of things falling easily into place, then we struggle; of spurts of letting go, then falling back into old habits or ways of being; of hard work, then times of inertia.

Sometimes we may feel like we are hitting brick walls.

When this happens, we just have to be patient with our self. Upping our spiritual practices helps.

Letting go and growing emotionally and spiritually is mostly done on an internal level, often without any outward signs to signify our advancement. It can be frustrating. Cosmic forces are always at work, and sometimes it is simply cosmic timing that is holding our growth and/or success at bay, such as with the lunar cycles and the cosmic / astrological forces, which affect us on many levels that we are not aware of.

All of our efforts to better ourselves, even the ups and downs as these often encourage self-reflection which helps us gain more insight into our psyche, play together in concert.

And once we have incorporated the themes of the Universal Laws into our everyday life in a way that transforms our way of thinking and being in the world to be congruent with the love and Oneness inherent in the universe, we are primed to step into our full potential and expand into all we can be.

The Universal Law of Expansion

All of a sudden, things may just seem to fall into place and all aspects of our life come together. We have gained enough upward momentum to engage the Law of Expansion, and as we ride the wave of the exponential function our life takes a sharp turn upward.

I continue these themes as I discuss the Law of Expansion and the Collective in Part 2. See HERE
