Grace Can be Bestowed upon Us; We Can Also Invoke a State of Grace

The Universal Law Of Openness – Part 3 of 3

As I explained in Part 1, to fully take advantage of the gifts the universe has to offer us we have to be “open” – in a state of receptivity – in our heart-space, and in Part 2 I put forth that we also have to be open to transformation – to what is keeping us from being open-hearted – in that state of receptivity.

Openness also Means Being Open to New Ideas and Approaches

The Law of Openness also open to alternatives. To new ideas and approaches. To seeing things through a new lens. Open to changing our views on some things.

Being open to alternatives means that we must be receptive to the fact that our individual perspectives are not the only ones, and that they may even be misguided.

It helps to remember that over our lifetime most of us have changed our minds about things we once believed to be true.

We must be open to questioning some of our views – especially those we inherited based on old paradigms. On our health. The Planet.

What we were taught about our past – especially regarding people of Indigenous cultures, other races, and different orientations. On the safety of our food supply. How our scriptures are interpreted. Open to new ways to dealing with personal and collective issues.

New Ideas Regarding Our Health

Being open to universal flow, we can tune into the innate wisdom held in our bodies. Christiane Northrup tells us in Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom that our “symptoms and/or illnesses … [come with] messages” and suggests we ask ourselves, “Am I open to listening to them?”

She explains that our illnesses speak to us, and that we should listen to the messages our bodies give us – for the purposes of understanding, healing, and possibly making life changes – not for an in-depth analysis of why it happened. (1).

The Universal Law Of Openness - Part 3 of 3

Little Ideas that Help Our Planet

There are many little things we can all do for the Planet. For example, we can exchange our lush green lawns and properties that require much watering for those that use various decorative alternatives that use less water.

In Kelowna, B.C. (a dry, arid area in the Okanagan valley) I have seen a combination of different colored pebbles, small rocks, mulch, and small flowering and cactus-like plants and shrubs create beautiful properties.

Being Open While Keeping Healthy Boundaries

As we open spiritually and move toward a more open-hearted existence, we have to strike a balance between being open and having healthy boundaries.

And as we become more open and compassionate towards others we must be aware of our emotional boundaries. People may attempt to walk all over us, lure us to getting pulled into their dramas, or, we may become victims of their neediness or agendas.

When we become more open-hearted our judgment and discernment do sharpen, but we still must exercise some caution.

Most people who overstep others’ boundaries don’t even realize they are doing it, but others are very skilled at enticing people into their emotional worlds. They want company in the murkiness of their pain and deep emotions. As Dr. Ronald L. Holt explains in an interview with Julia Griffin, “openheartedness [requires] conscious mindfulness …” (2).

Becoming empowered may require us to close our boundaries a bit. Creating healthy boundaries is a balancing act.

We may have been so open that we allowed too many people into our sphere – and to the extent of over-taxing ourselves. However, as we aim to adjust our boundaries we may now find that we put up walls and close off to others too much.

Keeping our boundaries healthy while remaining open is a fine line to walk, but a necessary skill to hone. While being open to others, we cannot allow their neediness to affect us. We can’t close off to everyone, nor can we let everyone in.

I once heard that we should let others into our sphere like windows that we can open and shut – not have wide-open doorways that let everyone in or walls that shut everyone out.

The Universal Law Of Openness - Part 3 of 3

We do not live in a bubble. When in crowds or around those who are needy or whose negative energy drains us, we can protect ourselves from the effects. Envisioning yourself surrounded by a cheesecloth type fabric will filter out negative energies while allowing the good ones in.

To take advantage of any kind of help or to properly perceive any philosophical, spiritual, or biblical teachings our hearts must be open and our minds quieted.

To be happy, feel empowered, discover our passions and life purpose, become our best self, and live in harmony with those around us we have to be open to universal flow and to the unconditional love it holds – and to extend love’s qualities to all others. We have to keep to the Universal Law of Openness.

*Protective Devices and Mechanisms: Methods we use like control, aggression, defensiveness, interrupting, changing the subject, or any other emotional device can help us avoid dealing what is really in front of us. These mechanisms aim to uphold, protect, and defend false, limiting beliefs, biases, or insecurities we hold.

The Universal Law of Openness (part 2 of 3)

Part 1 of article The Universal Law of Openness can be found here)

 In Part 1 of this article I explained that to fully take advantage of the gifts the universe has to offer us we have to be “open” – in a state of receptivity.

We must ensure we keep the floodgates to the universe open. Living in faith, with open hearts, and expressing love and its qualities out into the world keeps us in a receptive mode.

I discussed the importance of living heart-centered rather than mind-centered.

When we live heart-centered and with open hearts, we are living at our highest, purest form. Information flows freely back and forth.

When we live from a mind-centered place, we are existing at a lower, denser level. Mind talk is louder than the heart, so communication to the universe, to Spirit, often does not get through, or it is muffled. T

I explained that from a heart centered place we are open to others and can receive and give love freely, and that from a mind-centered place we are less open to others. Love cannot flow back and forth as freely. .

I also explained in part 1 that to fully adhere to the Law of Openness we must see life through a clear lens. That we must see the light and love within all of us – our sameness – not from the murky distorted lens of the created Self that sees our separateness and focuses on our imperfections and differences.

I concluded part 1 by offering suggestions on how to clear the lens of how we view ourselves, others, and life in general. Clearing our lens open us. It transforms us.

Archetypes Act As Conduits to Help Us, and to Strengthen Latent Qualities Within Us

Becoming Open Creates Personal Transformation

Personal Transformation can only occur if we are open to changing. To allowing old habits and ways of thinking and being to slip away. This makes room in our lives for what will better support a new, improved, more trusting, and empowered heart-centered version of ourselves.

Connecting to universal love by being open-hearted is transformative. It improves our life in many ways:

  • We respond to situations more calmly – rather than react over-emotionally, aggressively, or passively, or bring past issues or situations into the present;
  • we make decisions based on facts and truths – we are more perceptive of others and judicious of facts. We make wiser decisions;
  • our intuition increases – our instincts and intuition improve, ideas just seem to pop into our head, and we get “gut-feelings” about people and situations. We make better decisions;
  • our judgment and discernment improve – we can now see through others’ inauthenticity or falsehoods. We become more confident in our choices;
  • we feel more empowered – responding calmly, having good judgement, trusting the guidance we receive, and seeing through falsehoods or others’ selfish attitudes helps us feel more confident in ourselves and our choices, and therefore more empowered.
  • we are more apt to avoid hurt feelings – we can more easily see through others’ neediness, selfishness, agendas, manipulation, or protective devices they attempt to put on us;

The Universal Law of Openness (part 2 of 3)

To shift from living mind-centered to an open-hearted way of living in the world we must believe:

  • that being open to universal love and the power it brings with it will serve us better than being ruled by the mind.
  • that allowing the heart to lead the mind is better than continuing to allow the mind to snuff out what our heart or soul wants to tell us.

The mind treasures the fears we hold onto, the judgements and prejudices that lurk in its corners, the controlling natures that make us feel powerful, our reactions that give us momentary satisfaction, and the defenses and protective devices we have erected that aim to protect us but actually keep us distanced from our True Self and from others.

Self-Examination helps us to look where our mind may be leading us that may not be serving us well. At how we love and view ourselves, as well as our ways of being toward others, situations that arise, and the world in general.

It allows us to examine our focus. Our motives. Our reactions. The impact our choices have on our ultimate well-being, and the well-being of others.

Self-examination aims to improve our lives. To transform us – for the better. It asks us to be honest with our self. Be willing to trust and surrender to the ebbs and flows of the process. Be open to looking at our self – honestly. Open to insights we receive and new ideas that are presented to us.

However, the purpose of self-examination is not to make us feel wrong

but to uncover and release what is blocking our connection to our true Self.

It helps us to become more conscious.

Letting go of old habits and ways of thinking requires that we become vulnerable – lay down our guards. It is these guards that create blocks to universal flow and the love and power it holds for us.

The Universal Law of Openness (part 1 of 3)

See below for link to Part 2

The Law of Openness denotes that to fully take advantage of the gifts the universe has to offer us we have to be “open” – in a state of receptivity.

Grace, light, energy, and unconditional love are continuously being beamed to us from the higher realms, and to the Planet as a whole.

To access these gifts, we must ensure we keep the floodgates to the universe open. Living in faith, with open hearts, and expressing love and its qualities out into the world keeps us in a receptive mode. This is honoring the Law of Openness.

Jesus said, “come to me like children” – childlike. With awe. With trust. With hearts open – able to receive and give love.

The expression “the heart is the seat of the soul” means that it is through our hearts that we tap into our divinity – our higher selves. To access the qualities inherent in our divinity we have to be in our heart space – not in our mind.

Archetypes Act As Conduits to Help Us, and to Strengthen Latent Qualities Within Us

Living Heart-centered vs Living Mind-centered

When we live heart-centered and with open hearts, we are living at our highest, purest form. The communication lines to the universe are open: love, grace, wisdom, guidance, and information flows freely back and forth. Insights come to us.

Our questions are answered. Our concerns addressed. The messages we receive guide us toward our ultimate happiness, life purpose, and our highest good.

When we live from a mind-centered place, we are existing at a lower, denser level. Although living heart-centered offers us more than living mind-centered as we have access to universal flow and the power it holds, the mind is louder than the heart.

When we are mind-centered, our hearts desires and any messages we might receive are drowned out. Messages are not heard. The communication lines to the universe either contain static or are blocked completely.

Any insights or messages that do get through may be blurred or misunderstood. And as our focus is mainly on mind-centered matters and not on those that feed the heart or soul, the only guidance we hear or pay attention to is geared towards our mind-centered concerns.

From an open heart-centered place we can accept unconditional love and freely offer love and its qualities like kindness, understanding, compassion, fairness, and acceptance to others. We live life from a place of me-and-you.

The Universal Law of Openness (part 1 of 3)

From a mind-centered place we are less open to others. We react to people and situations at the level of the mind – not from the heart or the soul. We see life and others through barriers – through the mind’s veil of worry, fear, limitations, defensiveness, judgement, control, prejudice, suspiciousness, etc. We erect protective devices.*

From a mind-centered place we cannot fully accept or offer love as our barriers put conditions on love. We live life from a place of me-versus-you.

Advantages of Being Open-hearted

Some of the benefits of operating from an open-hearted place and allowing universal love and guidance to flow through us are:

  • we are confident and self-assured – while still remaining humble;
  • we have faith that our needs will be met and that things will work out – worry does not cloud our awareness or block our connection;
  • we are flexible – we do not get upset when unforeseen things happen. We adjust when necessary;
  • we can accept whatever is going on at the moment – regarding ourselves, others, and the world around us, while working to change what is necessary in a calm, confident manner;
  • we are mindful of our reactions – we are less inclined to harsh, defensive, aggressive, or overly-passive reactions, or of projecting any kind of negativity onto others or situations;
  • we live harmoniously – our attitudes and behaviors create harmony – not conflict, as we avoid getting involved in gossip, drama, or needless debates or confrontations;
  • we live spherically – open to all that is around us. A wide variety of opportunities are open to us that we would not be aware of if we were closed off.

The Universal Law of Openness (part 1 of 3)

Seeing through a Clear Lens / Clearing the Lens

The path to peaceful living requires that we perceive and react to life through a clear lens.

Connected to universal love our true Self sees through a clear lens. It sees our sameness and the light and love within all of us. It reacts to life from the place of me-and-you.

The barriers we put up from mind-centered living override how our true Self perceives life and causes us to react from our created Self.

This created Self sees life though the murky distorted lens of our separateness, focusing on our imperfections and differences. It reacts to life from the place of me-versus-you.

To ensure we are connected to our true Self and reacting to life and others through a clear lens – through a me-and-you perspective – we must be open to:

  • recognizing and unblocking what is keeping our lens murky;
  • gaining control of our mind and its ideas of separation: thoughts, attitudes, or actions based on our imperfections and differences;
  • examining our reactionary states;
  • acknowledging any greed, judgment, prejudice, or need for control that comes from a mind-centered focus;
  • becoming mindful;
  • self-examination;
  • personal transformation.

The Universal Law of Openness (part 1 of 3)

*Protective Devices and Mechanisms: Methods we use like control, aggression, defensiveness, interrupting, changing the subject, or any other emotional device can help us avoid dealing what is really in front of us. These mechanisms aim to uphold, protect, and defend false, limiting beliefs, biases, or insecurities we hold.

Universal Truths and the Masters Messages Come to Us in Many Ways

Understanding Universal Law

Just as there are proven laws such as gravity that govern our physical world, there are also laws that govern our Universe.

Everything in the Universe, including us, emerged from and is still connected to and intertwined with the energy of the original creative source – embodied by a Oneness and often referred to as God, Source, Creator, etc. And there is a perfect divine plan – a creative principle – that holds it all together.

Based on this creative principle, invisible codes were set out at the creation of our cosmos. Throughout history, the sages who were guiding us gave us governing principles based on the Universal matrix’s invisible codes.

Archetypes Act As Conduits to Help Us, and to Strengthen Latent Qualities Within Us

Some became known as the Universal Laws, Kingdom Principles, and Hermetic Laws. However, these laws and principles do not hold commands. They are about vibrations.

These laws are meant as guidelines to help us align our vibrations – through our thoughts, feelings, attitudes, and ways of being to that of our original creative source. The more aligned we are to Source the easier it is for us to become our Best Selves and reach our highest potentials – in form here on earth, as well as in assisting our soul’s journey into its next phase.

Micro and Macro Universal Principles of Form

On a macro level the Universal principles govern the creation and maintenance of all form: the planets, the stars, the galaxies, etc. – and hold it all in perfect divine balance.

On a micro level, Universal principles affect the subtler aspects the creations, like evolution, or the natural laws of the animal kingdom whereby the stronger survive. It is the subtler aspects of these governing principles that influences us.

It is in the understanding and application of the principles of the creation codes, like the Oneness paradigm and the Universal Laws that pertain to us, that help us to evolve – individually, collectively, and in conjunction with our Planet. They also help us to recognize our connection to the cosmos.

These Universal Laws and their principles influence our relationship to our self, to others, and to the part of us that still holds the link to our creative source (higher Self, God, Source, Creator, Spirit, Holy Spirit – or whatever we feel comfortable calling that connection).

Understanding Universal Law

Universal Law and Our Past History

Universal Law and its principles have been passed on to us throughout history – through numerous holy people, in many ways, and in various forms. Through their gods, teachers, and philosophers the ancients attempted to explain the laws and principles that pertain to creation, the cosmos, and our link to them.

They also attempted to explain the subtler aspects of the creative principle – as they relate to us. Based on these principles, texts were written that influenced many of the religions and thought-systems of the day.

In his investigation regarding human consciousness and religion, Stanislav Grof tells us in The Holotropic Mind: The Three Levels of Human Consciousness and How They Shape Our Lives that this creative principle, or cosmic consciousness, that has been written about in many ancient religious scriptures is known by different names: “Brahman in Hinduism, Dharmkaya in Mahayana Buddhism, the Tao in Taoism, Pneuma in Christian mysticism, Allah in Sufism, and Kether in the Kabbalah.”(1)

One of the much-revered spiritual teachers of the ancient Egyptians was Thoth Hermes Trismegistus, who they later declared to be their god Thoth. From his teachings emerged the Hermetic Laws.

Later on, the Greeks were so impressed with Thoth and his teachings that they took on the principles of the Hermetic Laws and named him their god Hermes. It is widely believed that Thoth and these laws and principles influenced many other writings and spiritual communities such as the Sumerians, the Buddhists, ancient Judaism, and Christianity.

Many of these writings made their way into religious and spiritual texts we still use today. However, we have to make the distinction between the Universal Laws and the religious rules we are to live by, such as the 613 rules of Judaism.

Universal Laws (Kingdom Principles, Hermetic Laws, etc.) are esoteric in nature. They are over-arching principles of how the Universe works – just like gravity is a scientific principle on earth. Nonetheless, it is evident that many of the rules to live by in the various religions have some basis in Universal Law.

We Are Creative Consciousness

In his same book, Grof also tells us that when physicists explored the micro world, they concluded that what “appears to be made up of solid objects” is actually an interweaving “complex web of unified events and relationships.” He says that we can then conclude that “consciousness does not just passively reflect the material world; it plays an active role in creating reality itself” (2).

Everything in the Universe is vibration and in a constant state of flux, and so everything – including us is – always being influenced by these governing principles – whether we are aware of it or not. And because everything holds a consciousness, outcomes can be directed.

We now understand the connection between scientific findings like quantum physics and spiritual concepts like the Law of Attraction’s premise that “we create our own realities.” Outcomes in the natural world and individual outcomes can be consciously altered.

Grof’s findings also show that the message is the same across all the religions he investigated – that not only can we connect with the creative principle, but in a sense, we are the creative principle. He says that being able to connect to and become this creative consciousness is a logical extension when we look at the boundaries found within the physical universe.

Understanding Universal Law

Grof relates this to quantum principles, because it shows us that physical boundaries are arbitrary, illusory, and can therefore be transcended. He explains that in our enlightenment moments we transcend these boundaries and experience the cosmic consciousness. (I further discuss these and other scientific principles as they relate to us in chapter 7, Science).

Universal Law and the Planes of Existence

Universal Law and its principles apply to, link, and govern the various planes of existence – the physical, the mental, and the spiritual. Everything in the physical plane is either in a phase of growth, or decay. The mental plane, or consciousness, is either in a state of thinking, planning, or creating – whether through the individual or the collective mind.

The spiritual plane embodies the All – the Oneness: it sees the big picture. Our higher Self resides on this spiritual plane. This is why it is always encouraging us to understand the big picture and to embrace attitudes that align with the qualities of Oneness.

Even though we and our bodies are on the physical plane, aligning with the Universal Laws allows us to access the spiritual plane – and all that it embodies.

When our vibrations are aligned with the principles of the Universal Laws, they are in harmony with those of the universal creative force and we can tap into its unconditional love and the power it holds.

Being positive, joyful, having hope, having an open heart, and being fearless are some of the qualities that align us with universal flow. So do all aspects of love and anything that upholds harmony and aims to unite.

When we are being negative, closed off, angry, judgmental, despondent, or pessimistic etc., we are distanced from universal flow, and by default we are stuck within the restrictions of our human limitations. Our power-base is weak and unconditional love is almost inaccessible.

The higher and more aligned our vibrations are to the universal codes of creation the more we can experience the expanded consciousness within it.

Many Universal Laws from Many Sources

Over time, many, many concepts have been deemed Universal Laws. Many overlap. For example, in my book I put forth the Law of Cause and Effect, which I based on concepts in A Course in Miracles.

I recently discovered that it is also deemed one of the ancient Hermetic Laws. The idea is basically the same: for every cause, there is an effect. This law advises us to become aware of the effects our thoughts, attitudes, and behaviors have on ourselves, and on others.

In her book, The Great Awakening, and through her channelings with Sanat Kumara Linda Dillon gives us 13 Universal Laws, some of which are The Law of Sacred Purpose, the Law of Give and Receive, and the Law of Within and Without – which is also a Hermetic Law.

Understanding Universal Law

All the Universal Laws of the past and present have value, hold truth, and offer us good guidelines. Following their principles helps us align to Source. Some could be considered subsets of others.

The reason for so many, and for such a variety, is that they were written at a certain time, for a certain audience, and with a specific purpose.

Although Linda Dillon and I hold many of the same philosophies and beliefs, the Universal Laws I put forth in my book are different from those she gives us.

Although they all aim to guide us to raise our vibration and many point to similar concepts to live by, our audiences are different and the context and purpose we have for them have a slightly different slant.

Here is a small summary of the Universal Laws from chapter 2 Universal Laws / Kingdom Principles.

First, the Law of Openness denotes that we have to be in a state of receptivity to be able to access the love, joy, sense of empowerment and other gifts available to us from the Universe.

Second, the Law of Authenticity indicates that we need to come from an honest place within ourselves. We must understand where our motivations come from.

Third, the well-known Law of Attraction confirms that we are vibration and maintains the principles that “like attracts like” and “we are the creator of our own realities.”

Fourth, the Law of Cause and Effect clarifies that we are the cause of our experiences, not at the effect of the world around us.

Fifth, the Law of Balance suggests that we should strive to live in a way that promotes a sense of equilibrium in our lives and harmony in our beings. To become balanced, we also have to make peace with all parts of ourselves as well as the world around us.

And finally, the Law of Expansion comes into play in our lives once the other laws are well integrated into our beings, whereby the exponential function allows us to take a sharp upward turn and expand into all that we can be.

Law of Expansion - Universal Law 6 (of 6)

Law of Expansion – Universal Law 6 (of 6)

(Excerpt from Chapter 2, Universal Laws / Kingdom Principles)

Our Universe is that of an expansive energy. When we continuously tap into the Universe’s power and yield to its laws and principles, we align with the expansion process, until eventually we are primed to take an exponentially sharp upward turn.

As we continuously apply ourselves to aligning all the different parts of ourselves with the laws and principles of the Universe, we anchor in the confidence from all the little gains we make.

This all plays together in concert, and we are then able to step into our full potential and expand into all we can be. And our efforts do not necessarily have to be hard work. It can simply be the letting go of what is in the way of our becoming our Best Self.

Our successes may also come with a combination of things falling easily into place, spurts of hard work, and times of inertia or — what feels like hitting brick walls. I met all of these in the process of getting this book out of me and onto paper.

And as cosmic forces are always at work. cosmic timing may also play a role in our individual and collective journeys. It is the energy the Shift of December 2012 brought with it that has given us the impetus to finding our own empowerment, helping others to get theirs’, and creating and supporting initiatives to create fairness for all and harmony around the world.

Constance of the Universal Laws and Principles

Whether we are conscious of them or not, the Kingdom Principles are at work in our lives all the time—for better or worse. How they affect us depends on the quality and strength of our vibrations.

With our thoughts, mind-sets, attention, and vibrational outputs, we invoke these cosmic laws. They are underlying principles that govern our experiences, just as gravity governs form and structure.

Everything we will ever need to know is at our disposal just waiting for us to download, so long as we are tuned into the right station.

Every thought, idea, action, reaction, or inaction from the beginning of time, through to the present, and into the future until the Universe actually does disappear is held in a universal bank known in Eastern and spiritual circles as the Akashic records (explained in chapter 7, “Science and Other Related Topics”).

The masters, the great scientists, and inventors, as well as the most profound philosophers of our world have all tapped into this data-bank of knowledge. We all have access to it; we just have to tune in to the right frequency. In The Morning of the Magicians Louis Pauwels and Jacques Bergier tell us that “We have a magical relationship with the Universe, but we have forgotten it.” (1)

I have grouped the Universal Laws / Kingdom Principles into six different categories. These are just general guidelines. There are others, and some people divide them up into more details, or use different names, but most of what we need to easily navigate life is contained within these six.

# 1 – Law of Openness … denotes that we have to be open  ̶  in a state of receptivity – to be able to access the love, joy, sense of empowerment and other gifts available to us from the Universe. (See below for link to this law).

# 2 – Law of Authenticity (Stay tuned for my article on this law in the June issue of The Stalit Path Magazine. Follow me on FB for updates)

# 3 – Law of Attraction

# 4 – Law of Cause and Effect … clarifies that we are the cause of our experiences, not at the effect of the world around us. See here

# 5 – Law of Balance

# 6 – Law of Expansion … Our Universe is that of an expansive energy.When we continuously  yield to its laws and principles, we align with the expansion process.

Law of Cause and Effect – Universal Law 4 (of 6)

(Excerpt from Chapter 2, Universal Laws / Kingdom Principles)

The Law of Cause and Effect builds on the premise of the Law of Attraction. We now understand that we bring into our lives that which we ask for with our vibrations. So, it only follows that if we want a different experience than what we are getting, we need to change our vibrations to positively reflect what we want.

It also follows that if we act and react unconsciously, unaware of the vibrations we are emitting, so then to change them we must first become aware of what is driving us.  Once we are aware of what any negative attitudes, habitual responses, or long-held underlying misperceptions we hold are having in our lives, we are in a better position to change them.

Once we change our thoughts and attitudes, our vibrations shift automatically, bringing us better experiences. Because Spirit is on board with us, even the most meager of efforts benefit us. We do not even have to be aware of this vibrational shift. The understanding of this vibrational aspect has not been at the forefront of Western religious teaching, but any who have made personal shifts in attitudes have experienced the benefits.

With these shifts in thoughts and attitudes, our actions also change for the better because they are a follow-through of the thoughts and attitudes we uphold. We then have less conflict in our lives.

I have grouped the Universal Laws / Kingdom Principles into six different categories. These are just general guidelines. There are others, and some people divide them up into more details, or use different names, but most of what we need to easily navigate life is contained within these six.

The Law of Openness – Universal Law 1 (of 6)

(Excerpt from Chapter 2, Universal Laws / Kingdom Principles)

Just as there are proven laws such as gravity that govern our physical world, there are also Universal Laws, or Kingdom Principles, that govern our Universe. The principles that govern the Universe apply, and have always applied, to everybody and everything in creation – whether we are aware of them or not. These laws and principles were set out at the creation of our cosmos, and because we emanated from and are still linked to that Universal Creative Force (known by many other names), some of these laws and principles influence us as humans.

The Universal Laws that affect us encompass the qualities, attitudes, and characteristics we need to abide by in order to align to our highest potentials and become our Best Self  ̶  here on earth, as well as to assist our soul’s journey into its next phase. How well we are attuned to and use them governs how we experience life. Spirit also has a role in our life, which I discuss below.

These laws and principles embody vibrations. They are not rules, but suggestions to live by if we want to align to our Creative Source. And they do not hold commands. They offer the whys and wherefores of how to uphold the required vibrations so that we can tune into our Source.  When our vibrations are in tune with our Source, we can tap into its unconditional love and the power it holds. When we do not adhere to these laws and principles, then by default, our vibrations are at the beck and call of our humanly influenced internal processes – our thoughts, ideas, attitudes, and judgments – which have all been heavily influenced by humanity’s negative past attitudes and behaviors. (There is more below on humanity’s negative influences).

THE LAW OF OPENNESS – (Universal Law #1)

The Law of Openness suggests we have to be open  ̶  in a state of receptivity to connect to our Source. Spiritual concepts such as “the heart is the seat of the soul,” and words of wisdom like when Jesus said, “come to me like children” suggest that our hearts have to be open—childlike―to be able to attune to the universal love and the gifts available to us. Being open means living from a heart-centered place.

Living from an open heart-centered place means we can feel and accept love and compassion for ourselves, and freely offer these and other qualities of love such as kindness, understanding, acceptance, and fairness to others. Any limiting beliefs or defensive barriers (like Protective Mechanisms*) we hold blocks this openness. With an open outlook we can be confident but still remain humble. Being open we live spherically, and more opportunities will present themselves to us that we would not become aware of if our heart was closed.

Being open allows us to have faith that our needs will be met, know that what we want and request /pray for will come to us, and believe that all that was intended for our life will come about. When we are open worry does not cloud our awareness, which would affect our connection to our Creative Source. We don’t second-guess ourselves. Being confident in our future and of what will come to us we don’t feel jealous or have the impulse to manipulate others or situations, therefore we don’t undermine ourselves. Existing within this paradigm of openness and faith, we are flexible and can make peace with whatever is going in our life at the moment.

When we live from an open-hearted space, we are living at our highest, purest form. The path to the Universe and its gifts and knowledge are completely available to us: love, guidance, and information flows freely back and forth. Conversely, when we live with closed hearts  ̶  from a mind-centered place, we are living at a low, tainted level of existence: the communication lines are either infused with static or blocked completely. When the benchmarks we live by are worry, fear, control, anger, prejudice, judgment, or any other limiting or divisive factors, we are unable to take full advantage of all that is available to us as our inheritance from our Creator.

The Role of the Spirit

Although aligning our vibrations to the Universal Principles is essential, there is another component to the equation: Spirit, who acts as our partner, guide, and helper. Spirit has always been with us helping and guiding us, however many of us have not learned how to listen properly, or to ensure the communication lines between us are clear. Once we decide to look for a more positive way to be, behave, or navigate life we stoke the flame to that original link we emanated from, and our connection to Spirit becomes clearer and stronger.

Aligning our vibrations toward the lighter and higher aspects of the Universe is what we can do. Spirit, who has a consciousness, can then reach down (metaphorically speaking) and lift us up, bestowing gifts upon us. However, this only kicks in once we take the first step. A Course in Miracles tells us, “a little willingness is all that is required,” but we do have to take that first step.

Humanity’s Past Kept Us Unaware of the Power We All Hold

The power we hold as individuals and the knowledge of how to tune into it has eluded us throughout the ages. Those who were most supposed to guide, help, and protect us kept the attributes of the Universal Laws and its principles hidden from us. Church and state were the worst perpetrators. They sought to maintain control over us for their own power and gain, and in doing so, kept us dependent on them for our spiritual and physical well-being. A judgmental God was promoted encouraging fear-based living.**

Along with the powerful and the wealthy, we were held prey to the whims of those who wielded control over us. We had to play by their rules. In doing so, we adopted survival-mode attitudes and limiting, protective mechanisms. A fear mentality was further set in. We lost our innocence and sense of openness and living a heart-centered life became a distant memory as we fell deeper into mind-centered living. Our vibrations were no longer congruent to tuning into the universal powers available to us.

We were originally programmed to be able to tune into the Creative power of our Source and become empowered in all areas of our life. Although we became reprogrammed eons ago and our original wiring has been all but snuffed out, we can reignite it! It is our evolutionary time to return to our original programming. Understanding the necessity to elevate our vibrations to align with what is held in the Universe is the first step. Consciously doing it is the second step.

*Our Protective Mechanisms are the methods we use to uphold, protect, and defend false, limiting inner beliefs, biases, and insecurities. They seek to hide and mask our fears and deep-set neediness. This keeps us mentally and emotionally on guard. They create menus of how-it-should-be rules, which we use as barometers of how we think things should be compared to how we perceive things actually are. I say perceive because our unconscious influences cause us to identify situations falsely.

For example, a person may feel their spouse is not attentive enough, but it is their need for attention that cannot be satisfied. Judgments then ensue to support these viewpoints. Holding these mechanisms in place keeps our minds active with worry and our emotions taxed, even affecting our health. We continue to rely on these protective devices because we feel they keep us emotionally safe, but unbeknownst to us they cause us more stress and anxiety than facing what is behind them, and in the long this run can lead to depression, phobias, and even dependencies.

** The illusionary belief in a judgmental and vengeful God was further anchored into our belief systems because the energy of Humanity’s general negativity with its power structure and fear-based control mechanisms drew some dangerous beings from other planets to us. We became hosts for their control and greed. Although these beings were technologically more advanced than us, they were still within the illusion and under the auspices of duality with some of them exhibiting its qualities of greed and control. However, because they appeared to come from a higher place, we treated them as gods and confused them with the true creative force we emanated from.

I further discuss other beings, the extra-terrestrials, who it is now clear visited and influenced us in the past more fully in in chapter 6, “Words, Symbols, Rituals, Concepts, and Prayers,” and in chapter 7, “Science”
